Project Management Artifacts

All project actions yield a variety of outputs, or some already available documents are used for the value delivery of the project. An artifact here can be described as a document, template, plan, deliverable of a project, or output of a specific process.

Project artifacts should be tailored according to the nature and characteristics of the project by taking the applicable development approach into consideration. So the answer to the question of artifact usage in each phase or performance domain of a project is strongly related to the outcome of tailoring processes. Selecting the appropriate artifact for a project or organization is done with efficient tailoring.

The commonly used artifacts in project management are listed below; however, they are not limited to them.
